Contributing to Suburban Fool

Suburban Fool is currently open to submissions. We do not publish in set issues because this is the internet. We put good stuff up as it comes in.

We’re looking for entertaining, well-written works in any genre or style.

If you’d like to contribute to Suburban Fool, please follow these submission guidelines:

Email to contribute [at] suburbanfool [dot] com. Either paste your piece in the body of the email or attach it in .rtf or .txt format. Attachments in other formats will be deleted unopened. The subject line should be: YOUR NAME – CATEGORY (e.g., GORSKI – FLASH FICTION) so that we can tell it’s a submission right away.

We’re currently interested in:
Poetry
Flash fiction
Short stories
Flash memoir
Personal essays

We’re not word count sticklers, but in general anything “flash” should be fewer than 1,000 words, and a short story on the long side (7,000+ words) would have to be really compelling to be accepted.

Submissions should be previously unpublished (except for the author’s blog or web site).

Please include a one-line bio with a link to your blog or site that we can use if we publish your submission.

Simultaneous submissions are expected, but do let us know if someone beats us to publishing one of your pieces.

At this time we are not able to pay our contributors. Suburban Fool has only recently come back from the dead and is online-only for the foreseeable future.

Rights revert to the author with the exception of an option to publish the work, whole or in part, in a future electronic or (ha!) print anthology edition of Suburban Fool, with acknowledgment of the author.

Questions welcome at info [at] suburbanfool [dot] com.
